Fresh and spicy homemade ginger simple syrup made with just three ingredients. Perfect for drinks like cocktails, mocktails, tea, coffee and lemonade. This ginger syrup recipe delivers bold ginger flavor and stores beautifully in the fridge or freezer.
- 1 cup (200 g) white granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) filtered water
- 2 –3 inches fresh ginger thinly sliced or grated
Add sugar and water to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir gently until the sugar is fully dissolved.
Add the ginger and simmer gently for 5–8 minutes.
Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes.
Strain out the ginger.
Allow the syrup to cool completely, then transfer to a sterilized glass bottle or jar.
For a richer syrup, use a 2:1 ratio (2 cups sugar to 1 cup water).
For a milder syrup, reduce simmer time to 3–5 minutes.
Store refrigerated in a sterilized glass bottle or jar. Best used within 2 weeks.
Yield: Approximately 1 cup (240 ml)
