This fresh orange simple syrup is made with real orange juice for a bright, naturally sweet citrus flavor. It’s quick to make and perfect for cocktails, iced tea, coffee, and desserts.
Juicer or blender
Strainer
- 1 cup fresh orange juice about 2–3 oranges
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Optional: zest of 1 orange for extra aroma
Juice the oranges until you have 1 cup of fresh orange juice. Strain out pulp if desired.
Add the orange juice and sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir gently as the mixture warms, until the sugar fully dissolves.
Reduce the heat and let the syrup simmer gently for 8–10 minutes. Do not boil vigorously.
If using orange zest, add it during the last few minutes of simmering.
Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
Strain out the zest if used, then transfer the syrup to a clean jar or bottle.
This syrup is slightly thicker than classic simple syrup due to the natural sugars in orange juice.
Use fresh-squeezed juice for the best flavor. Bottled juice may taste flat or bitter.
For longer storage, freeze in small portions and thaw as needed.
