This homemade fig simple syrup uses fresh or dried figs for a rich, naturally sweet syrup perfect for cocktails, coffee, pancakes, and desserts. Easy 30-minute recipe!

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Fine-mesh strainer or sieve
  • Glass bottle or jar

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped fresh figs or ¾ cup chopped dried figs
  • Optional: squeeze of lemon juice

Instructions

  • Heat water and sugar over medium heat until dissolved.
  • Add figs and reduce to a gentle simmer.
  • Simmer 15–20 minutes (fresh) or 25–30 minutes (dried).
  • Lightly press figs halfway through.
  • Strain while warm into a clean jar.
  • Cool completely before sealing and refrigerating.
